Kingston Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab, P.C. has been providing physical therapy services to Ulster County and Hudson Valley residents since 1984. KPT is dedicated to providing quality patient care for all ages. Our therapists have superior training and expertise, and all of our facilities feature state-of-the-art equipment.
Our objective is to speed your return to daily life by promoting movement and improving function. After your in-office physical therapy program is complete, we provide guidance for you to continue your rehabilitation at home.
Direct Access
In 2006 New York passed Direct Access legislation which allows patients to receive care from a licensed Physical Therapist without a physician's referral. If your insurance is Medicare, No Fault, or Workers Compensation, you are not eligible for Direct Access. These insurances must receive a prescription for Physical Therapy from their physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner.
How long can I attend Physical Therapy under Direct Access?
A patient can receive Physical Therapy for 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. If at this point you need continued Physical Therapy, a prescription from your physician is required.
